Xplor Japan · Your Tokyo hotel
Xplor Japan picks up to five of you at your hotel, drives to Chureito Pagoda, the Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen shrine, Oshino Hakkai and two of the Fuji lakes, crosses to Hakone, and books you a reserved Shinkansen seat to Tokyo Station. Pick it for the shape of the day: Fuji's north side in the morning light, and no two-hour drive back in the evening.

Xplor Japan's guides pick you up at your hotel in an air-conditioned private car. The $314 from-price is per group, for up to five people, and covers fuel, parking and a reserved ordinary-car Shinkansen seat for each of you. The listing gives an hour at most stops: Chureito Pagoda, Oshino Hakkai, Lake Yamanaka, Lake Kawaguchiko, the Hakone Ropeway and Lake Ashi, plus 30 minutes at the Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen shrine. That's more than one day holds, so the guide trims to suit the weather and your pace.
Guests keep giving the same advice: start an hour early. Guides suggest it to beat the Tokyo traffic and the crowds at Chureito, where 398 steps climb to the pagoda and its famous view of Fuji. Fujiyoshida even cancelled its 2026 cherry blossom festival over the crowds there. Speedboat rides on Lake Kawaguchiko come up in several reviews as an add-on; the guide recommends lunch spots, at your cost.
The extras: Hakone Ropeway and Lake Ashi cruise tickets aren't included (2,000 and 1,700 yen one way per adult), and neither is food. Your ride ends at the Shinkansen. From Tokyo Station you get yourself to your hotel. Rain can cancel the Hakone half; one guide switched to the Kachi Kachi Ropeway at Kawaguchiko and a speedboat instead. There's no 5th Station on this route. For that, or to be driven to your door, look at Live Nippon's private tour.
Your guide meets you at the hotel. Ask about starting an hour earlier, as most reviewers did.
West on the Chuo Expressway toward the north side of Fuji.
398 steps up through Arakurayama Sengen Park to the pagoda terrace, with Fuji behind it on a clear morning.
The cedar-lined Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen shrine, Oshino Hakkai's ponds and lunch by Lake Kawaguchiko or Yamanaka.
Ropeway over the Owakudani valley and a Lake Ashi cruise; buy both tickets on the spot.
A reserved seat to Tokyo Station. You make your own way from there to the hotel.
★★★★★He suggested a pick up time 1hr earlier than planned to avoid city traffic and crowds for the first stops of our tour. This worked out great, and so I would definitely recommend!
★★★★★My husband have trouble walking so I took this tour. [...] he suggested to start the tour early to we can see perfect view of Mt. Fuji. He is right we seen Mt.Fuji without clouds, amazing.
★★★★★We enjoyed amazing views of Mt Fuji at Chureito Pagoda, tasted authentic local foods from villages, [...] enjoyed a scenic ride on the Hakone Ropeway and Lake Ashi pirate ship and finished with a seamless Bullet train experience back to Tokyo.
★★★★★Ryu also recommended a terrific lunch stop. This tour was very well organized and returning to Tokyo on the bullet train was very efficient since we could avoid the traffic and get back sooner on the train than by road.

No, per group. The $314 from-price covers up to five people in one car, the guide, fuel, parking and reserved Shinkansen seats. Hakone tickets, lunch and the ride from Tokyo Station to your hotel come on top. Our private vs group guide runs the numbers.
No. This route sees Fuji from its northern foot: Chureito Pagoda, Oshino Hakkai and the lakes. That makes it a good choice in winter, when snow usually closes the upper Subaru Line from about December to early April.
The listing is weather-dependent: if the operator cancels for poor weather, you get a new date or a full refund. If the tour runs, the guide adapts; one guide swapped the Hakone half for the Kachi Kachi Ropeway at Kawaguchiko and a speedboat when rain closed the Hakone ropeway.
Moderate, per the listing, with Chureito's 398 steps the hardest part; you can skip them and see Fuji from the lakes. Guests with bad knees or trouble walking say their guides changed the day to suit them. It isn't wheelchair accessible.
