JTB Sunrise Tours · Shinjuku or Tokyo Station
JTB Sunrise Tours drives you from Shinjuku or Tokyo Station to the Fuji 5th Station in season, serves lunch with a taiko drum performance, crosses to Hakone for a ropeway and a Lake Ashi cruise, and puts you on the Shinkansen from Odawara. Pick it for the licensed guide and the lunch you'll remember: the drummers are from Fugakukai, a social welfare group, and the show is the one thing no other tour has.

JTB Sunrise Tours is the inbound brand of JTB, Japan's biggest travel company, and its guides hold the national guide-interpreter licence. In Shinjuku you check in at the Sunrise Tours desk on the 3rd floor of the Keio Plaza Hotel's Main Tower between 7:25 and 7:55. The other start is Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu, two floors underground in Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, and several guests struggled to find it. The day runs about 12 hours with up to 44 guests.
Fuji comes first: 30 minutes at the 5th Station, which the listing says runs from about late April to November. From about December to early April the Subaru Line closes, and the tour goes to the Fujisan Museum, Oishi Park, the World Heritage Center, the Itchiku Kubota Art Museum or Oshino Hakkai instead. Lunch is an hour at the Fuji Zakura Hotel with the wadaiko drum show; on the lunch option you pick Japanese, vegetarian, Muslim-friendly (not halal-certified) or Indian thali on the day.
Check the Hakone part for your date. The listing's notice says 2026 departures use the Komagatake Ropeway, which climbs from the lakeshore to a summit shrine, and skip Owakudani; the 2027 options return to the Hakone Ropeway and Owakudani. A short Lake Ashi cruise follows, then Odawara and a one-way Shinkansen to Tokyo Station. No refund applies if Fuji hides, and wind can swap the ropeway for a museum or a second boat. At 4.2 it rates lower than Japan Panoramic Tours' version, mostly over bus time and the meeting point.
JTB Sunrise Tours desk, Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo Main Tower, 3rd floor (2-2-2 Nishi-Shinjuku). From Tokyo Station, go to Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu on B2F of Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, 3 minutes from the Yaesu South Exit.
Late April to November. In winter or bad weather the guide picks a lower station or a museum by Lake Kawaguchi.
Lunch on the lunch option and the drum performance for everyone. Without lunch, bring food: there are no cafes nearby.
In 2026, the Komagatake Ropeway up to the summit shrine of Mt Komagatake; from 2027, the Hakone Ropeway with 35 minutes at Owakudani.
A short sightseeing cruise on Lake Ashi, with Fuji to the north on a clear afternoon.
Non-reserved seats to Tokyo Station. The guide explains your route onward before you board.

Not in 2026. The listing's notice says 2026 departures use the Komagatake Ropeway and skip Owakudani, and the 2027 options switch back to the Hakone Ropeway with a stop at Owakudani. If the steam vents and black eggs matter, look at the Japan Panoramic Tours day for now.
No. The Muslim-friendly menu uses no pork or alcohol but isn't halal-certified. The other choices are Japanese, vegetarian (no meat or fish) and Indian thali. Allergy and gluten-free meals aren't available, so book without lunch if you need them.
From about late April to November in a typical year, per the listing. From about December to early April the Fuji Subaru Line closes for snow and ice, and the tour goes to the 4th or 1st Station or a museum near Lake Kawaguchi. Our winter 2026-27 post has the details.
Only small bags. The listing says suitcases over 160 cm in total can't go in non-reserved Shinkansen cars, and JR Central requires a special reservation for them. Leave big bags at the hotel or send them ahead by courier.
